Did this meeting happen? I have not heard any reports about it?

Yes Luis, Thanks. I will try both.
CP recommended that also, or thick white paper. It just needs to be a constant.

I don’t think that you need a mathematical function.
One attribute of your leaf collection would be “% Hydration” and you would enter the calculated result there.
To make this easier, I would suggest a free text entry per sample with a reference (sample #1, sample #2, etc) so that you know which calculation belongs to which leaf.
Obviously you need lots of leaves with different starting hydrations.
You also need to be sure that your dehydration is only removing water.

I have charged SCiO with my phone cable – no explosions yet. I love the orange cable – it is so easy to find amongst all the black ones! My daughter thinks it is only for the SCiO, which means it does not vanish into her purse like the others.

Charles – I had the same. Test was greyed out.
I just rebooted the phone and it works fine! Even got the right answers!
    (tested on Nexus 5 OS 5.1.1 and Note 3 OS 5.0 )

Maybe just cache clearing is enough?

I guess today’s update has helped answer that?

Good Proposal! May I add that we should mention which OS, + browser + smartphone model as applicable.
Android especially – as they have such a huge range of variations and OS versions.
Maybe CP could create a standard form reporting issues that includes all these elements.
I do like the way that the smartphone feedback includes an automatic screenshot – smart indeed.

In the SCiO lab, scrubbing the data would be easier with a bulk delete. Using filters to narrow down a sample or multiple selection bulk delete would be nice.

    Yes I support this proposal.

Longer term you might like to think about other housekeeping tools, like “search and replace” for both text and List values.
As we learn, we will want to improve and correct classifications. Doing them one by one will be hard later when we have some hundreds of scans.

Hey Redwingii – it looks pretty to me!
I guess 1241 is the bottom, and can be filled with pastes / sauces etc? and then 1242 sits on top to provide distance?

I hope CP can give some advice on reflective surfaces. I think that their sample cup has special floor and walls because the samples are smaller than the illuminated area.

You give me a strong feeling of the “Must Haves” for a 3D printer!

I printed this gadget with white ABS plastic.
    <br>

Can you 3D print in a matt black plastic? That would absorb some of the stray reflected light from irregularly shaped samples.
I think the recommended distance is 10 – 15 mm.

    Good luck with your efforts.
Maybe you can attach a photo?

    Hi Khoa,
I like your model ideas, we may need to include a couple of fields for how much marbling the sample has (or limit scans to lean areas only), freshness (colour?)
I have tested ONE sample each from Beef, Pork and Lamb. There is considerable overlap, so lots more samples are required – and I am on a weight loss diet! This will not be easy.
Fat % in minced meat looks relatively easy, but I need to see how much sample prep is needed.

I think it is clear that SCiO may be able to help with INTOLERANCE issues where the substances are present in reasonably large quantities, and missed traces are not life threatening.
SCiO must not be used for allergens or toxins where mg/Kg amounts could kill.
The first step would be to scan known foods with and without gluten to check the possibilities out. The samples may have to be sorted into classes if the noise from a myriad of possible ingredients drowns the gluten signature. (Breads / Cakes / Sweet sauces / Savoury Sauces etc for whatever foods gluten may lurk in)

From the titles this seems to be the right forum for software errors and issues

Well done on detecting a crash scenario! I have not had that happen.
To be clear, models are created on the PC / Tablet Lab, but used in the Mobile lab on the smartphone.
Where did the crash happen? Creating the model or trying to use it?

    Hi Francisco,
I never thought of explosives! I am sure that would be a great project. Like getting narcotics samples, the problem will be getting reference samples in a safe way. Maybe a cooperation with a testing laboratory or enforcement office?
Unfortunately I do not have such contacts.

    @ Luis:
I have scanned three types of mushrooms so far (one tray purchased of each from local shop)
    – King Oyster mushroom Pleurotus eryngii
    – white cultivated mushrooms
    – brown cultivated mushrooms a variety of agaricus bisporus
As may be expected the King oyster shows quite a difference from the common champignons
I hope to get some other varieties scanned soon.

Please remember that CP have warned that the scans from prototype devices may or may not be useful in later collections.
I am not building huge collections yet, just a few samples to see what may be promising, and to test the software.

    Notes:
    1. Bergkäse is a hard yellow cheese.
    2. The samples were scanned on different days in various indoor lighting conditions.
