I am trying to scan a powder that is medium(darkness)  brown and keep getting a weak signal warning on each scan.

I am scanning indoors with a room that has normal lighting and I am using a big sample to make sure there is no background interference. I have done 100+ scans in the same set up and room but they were a white powder and I only got this warning if I held the scanner too far away.

Please advise if there are ways to help scan darker powder/materials.

    Hi Wak,

Have you used the optical shade? If you haven’t, I believe using it may solve your problem.

    @ Wak:
As Ayelet writes, using the optical shade may solve your problem.

But black items reflect little light, and colour in visible light is not the same as colour under IR.

You cannot measure what is not there!
I have got good signals from some dark brown powders like cinnamon and nutmeg and clove, but discrimination between them was not so good.
